Minka’s big break came in the spring of 2006, when she landed the role of Lyla Garrity on Friday Night Lights. To prepare for her role as head cheerleader, she trained with the cheerleading squad from the Pflugerville High School in Texas.

Personal life
Kelly dated Donald Faison in 2005, and had a relationship with actor Chris Evans, as well. In September 2007, she began dating musician John Mayer. Their break-up was reported by People.com on January 9, 2008. And although still unconfirmed, as of May 2008, she is currently being linked to New York Yankee's shortstop, Derek Jeter.

She appeared in the flick The Kingdom in 2007 and dated John Mayer. As for 2008, the only project on deck for Minka Kelly is 500 Days of Summer.
