Sarah Murdoch grew up on the northern beaches of Sydney before going on to become one of Australia’s most successful international models. Her success has included major contracts with L’Oreal, Revlon, Estee Lauder and Ralph Lauren, major campaigns with Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent as well as joining the prestigious Revlon family as a global face alongside Cindy Crawford, Salma Hayek, Shania Twain and Halle Berry.
Sarah quickly became a favourite of American talk television with appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, MTV, VH1 and E Entertainment. She also appeared in Sports Illustrated Annual Swimsuit Issue, and graced the cover of the Australian edition.
In 1997 Sarah began working with National Breast Cancer Foundation of Australia. Since then she has committed herself to charity work and is now patron of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, an ambassador for the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and a director of The Australian Ballet.
Sarah made her film debut in the 2001 release of Universal’s Head Over Heels alongside Freddie Prinze Jr. and Monica Potter. Also in 2001 Sarah launched a multi-year deal with iconic Australian brand Bonds – helping develop an enormously profitable women’s line and appearing in all major advertising campaigns.
Over the summer of 2006/2007 Sarah was appointed co-host of Channel Nine’s morning news and current affairs program The TODAY Show with Karl Stefanovic.
In March 2007 Sarah released a book, Birth Skills, co-authored with Juju Sundin and published by Allen & Unwin.
In October 2008, Sarah signed on to host and co-executive produce the most successful series on subscription television – AUSTRALIA’S NEXT TOP MODEL. As part of the multi-year landmark deal Sarah’s production company, Room 329, is also producing a series of documentaries for the FOXTEL Owned and Operated Factual Channels Group.
The first one, Sarah Murdoch Presents Pride of Australia, revealed the stories of everyday people who, because they embody the Australian values of courage, compassion, determination and tolerance, were nominated for the Pride of Australia™ medal in 2009.
Sarah lives in Sydney, Australia with her husband Lachlan and their three children, Kalan, Aidan and Aerin.
